Highland Storm Atom A takes on Bracebridge in MPS Playdowns

Sunday, March 13th, 2011

The Highland Storm Atom A team travelled to Bracebridge on Saturday for the start of the MPS play-downs. Without knowing what to expect, their focus was simply the game of hockey and to have the most fun ever. Surely, that was the plan for every player, especially the inexperienced left-winger playing goalie, Lucas Haedicke. It proved to be one of their best games of the season. The camaraderie of the team took them into the third period tied 8-8. It was a fun and exciting game that went into overtime, then to a shoot out. It didn’t matter that they lost 9-8; it was a thrilling game to play and watch.

The adrenaline rush continued on Sunday in Minden against Bracebridge once more. The boys were on fire and shut the Bears down for the first and second period. Third period began with the Storm ahead 5-1. The Bears picked up the pace, the intensity grew as they pulled out all the stops. Wasn’t enough, the game ended with a well-deserved 5-4 win for the Storm Atom A team. Goals scored by Jacob Haedicke, 2 goals by Nik Dollo and Nolan Flood. Assists were by Nolan Flood and Owen Patterson-Smith. Awesome job team!
